DIY BB cream!

I've been a BB cream fan for YEARS and am slightly ashamed to admit that most of our household uses it. Chance goes through tubes of it quicker than I do, which isn't surprising since he's always squeezing out a dollop for Caycee(7) or Layla(2). We've used just about every drugstore brand BB cream there is, but have agreed that our favorite is made by L'Oreal.  After reading approximately 87 different blogs from Pinterest on how other DIYers made their own BB cream, I came up with the perfect formula to dupe mine.

It may sound daunting, but I bet you have all of  ingredients needed for this project laying around in your cosmetics drawer! Most of the articles I read called for liquid foundation, which I don't wear, so I improvised with a cream concealer by GloMinerals. (color: Honey).  Not all formulas called for this, but I love the silky feel and staying power of a primer, so I included some of mine, also by GloMinerals.  Many folks claim to use Monistat Chafing cream as a primer so if you have it on hand, throw some in and test it out! The majority of your mix will consist of moisturizer and sunscreen, which mine contains so I didn't add any but you're not using sunscreen daily in your moisturizer, WE NEED TO TALK!

Last and maybe considered least, I love that L'Oreal has a little bit of a bronzing shimmer to is, so I added a touch of my gloDust also by, surprise surprise, GloMinerals.  If you're not a bronzer wearing girl, feel free to skip it!

Combine all ingredients using a 1:1:1:3 ratio, moisturizer being the three.

Judging by the pictures I may have upped my moisturizer to a 6 or 7. HAHA! Never too hydrated.  The primer is in the bottom right corner, but being clear jelly is hard to make out.

Mix all ingredients, adding more moisturizer if you're going for less coverage, and bottle as you wish!

Chance was so excited to test it out this morning and although I got his (expert) stamp of approval, let me invite y'all into my mirror for my test of it on a fresh face.

Freshly washed skin.
As you can see, I don't have the best complexion. I'm always a bit ruddy, but the winter months keep my face red and irritated.

I use enough cream to cover not only my face, but my neck and chest as well.  Sunscreen, people! SUNSCREEN!  I'll never forget being told that a lady shows her age on her neck before her face.

After application. You can see that this is far from a full coverage, like a foundation would be, but it definitely smooths and mellows my complexion! (I promise these pictures are raw, no trickery lighting or filters, this cream is just THAT awesome!)

The best part? This DIY BB cream is WEIGHTLESS on my face.  As I sit in my office at 1:30pm, 5 hours after application, my face feels like I'm wearing nothing more than my daily moisturizer and blush, which is all I added before darting out the door.

Feel free to ask any questions and PLEASE let me know how well this project turned out for you!
xoxo
